If you are searching for a job in the IT sector, you may be wondering how is the Indian software scenario. You may also be wondering if you want to join a product-based company or project-based company. What is the difference between a product and a project? A product is something the company develops internally with its own specifications. A project is done for an external client.

Addressing the ninth edition of product conclave, NASSCOM President Som Mittal said the product landscape has exponentially grown in India over the years. This is because the focus has now shifted from the services sector to products. Som Mittal said "And in an effort to pursue this vision, NASSCOM is making representations with governments across levels, recommending them to set up an entrepreneurship mission, change in procurement guidelines and access to funding."
NASSCOM predicts that the year 2013-2014 will be very good for the software industry. The software exports from India will meet the 11-14 percent growth in the current financial year. NASSCOM says the IT sector, which crossed USD 100 billion mark last year, will clock at least double-digit growth this year. The 'NASSCOM AWSME India Survey 2012' released at the event said technology and software providers are considerably interested in the Indian SME market because of the immense rise in numbers and growth potential of this category.
